It emits a loud noise when jerked from side to side, this sound travels through water alerting other divers to your position and any potential problems or dangers. Rattles are especially useful when there is no direct line of sight to other divers where an emergency beacon or light would not be seen, but a rattle can be heard. This makes this product essential to diver safety, and could get you out of some potentially life threatening situations.

Unlike other dive rattles / shakers this one contains a magnet at the bottom, this stops it from making noise when not in use and attached to your BCD.
