The Mares X-Stream Fins are a performance, comfortable and lightweight design and are the incredible result of sixty passionate years at the service of diving. The X-Stream is truly a leap into the future, and changes forever how Mares envision the creation of a fin. More than 2 years of resources, experiments and testing and four Mares patents all concentrated in one unique product.
The Mares X Stream won the prestigious 2010 Red Dot product design award illustrating that it is a truly excellent product.
The Optimised Pivoting Blade system (OPB) allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle, OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimises fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water.
The ergonomically designed foot pocket delivers maximum power and evenly distributes pressure over the foot to minimise fatigue. The foot pocket interior features internal ribbing that improves fit, eliminates foot suction and prevents foot pocket flexing, while transmitting more power to the blade. The limiting factors in traditional open heel foot pockets are their weight and the parachute effect. When finning, water gets into the space between the bootie and the foot pocket, creating drag like the air in a parachute. The perforations prevent this and have the additional benefit of making the foot pocket very soft and flexible. Furthermore, the suction effect which can make doffing of the fins cumbersome, is now forever a thing of the past.
The Mares X-Stream Fins use Mares patented design ABS Plus Buckles (Adjustable Binding System). It only takes one quick movement to easily open or close these buckles, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The double button release prevents the buckles from accidentally opening making them the most user friendly system on the market.
The Super-Channel is designed for the diver who wants the perfect blend of power and efficiency in one fin. The new blade design with a large central super-channel and two traditional lateral channels provide excellent thrust while maintaining hi-efficiency and minimizing leg fatigue. The blade uses tri-material construction, constructed of techno-polymers and thermoplastic rubber for extended durability. Mares design inspired by marine mammals. Channel thrust technology maximises the channeling of water and moves a much greater amount of water compared to other fins of the same size. The result is greater thrusting power with the same amount of effort.
The adjustable fin straps are equipped with large heel pull tabs for easy donning and doffing. Fins overall lengths are 60 cm to 64 cm (23″ to 25.2″) depending on size and weight 1.34 kg (2.9 lb). Fins are available in multiple sizes and colours.
